15TH MAY 2023.

What a busy weekend we had. Thank you all the members of the club who helped to make it a fun experience for folks. An eleven year old who worked all day on Saturday, a teenage member who had come second out of 348 shooters in a big competition during the week, both helping. Thank you to those two. Two hundred and seventy five shooters, small boys, grandads, mums and dads and daughters, everyone possible. The black powder was popular again and the resulting extra loud bang when fired was just great excitement for the little lads. It was popular with some who tried shooting it last year and it was in use till we ran out of cartridges. We had some good first time shooters who went away with their cards ready to show off to pals. A lady beat her Dad and he said it would probably be pinned to the front door the next time he visited her home. She was keeping both cards and joked about framing them. She shot 10 out of 10; excellent for someone who has not shot before. Well done. We had dogs viewing the proceedings, one non stop barking because he was a working dog and cross because he was not getting to join in, some just curious and one who cuddled up in the cabin while his owner went to shoot. We saw a police car come up the field but they were not coming to see us, they wanted to speak to someone not connected with the clay shoot. No police having a go at clay shooting this year. When it was almost the end of the day helpers paid for a go and enjoyed it. I had not shot my 20 bore which we had been using over the weekend for a little while so had a go with that as well as my usual 12 bore. The weather had been good both days and that always makes a difference. I was asked several times if we will be doing it next year. I should think so. The amount being sent to Manorlands will be on this website in the next few days.
